Social Justice and Charity
CAFOD (the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development)
CAFOD is the official Catholic aid agency for England and Wales, and is part of Caritas International, the Church's worldwide organization dedicated to alleviating need and distress. Year after year, we promote long-term development, respond to emergencies, raise awareness of poverty, speak out on behalf of poor communities, and promote social justice.

Our work is broad-ranging, across countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, helping the world's poorest communities, and those affected by conflict or natural disaster.
We also use funds to increase awareness of the causes of poverty, helping people campaign to bring about change, and to speak out on behalf of poor communities, challenging governments and international bodies to promote equality and justice.
At present, activity within St Joseph's is largely concerned with the two annual Fast Day collections - in Lent and at Harvest Time, but we are always on the look-out for further activities, and to this end work closely with the One World Group.

Christian Aid
St Joseph's parishioners assist in the annual house-to-house collection for Christian Aid in May, and occasional fundraising events are held.
The parish representatives are Win Crawford and Marie-France Hicks - please contact them via the Parish Office on 01684 574 250 or stjoseph.malvern@rcaob.org.uk.

Association for the Propagation of the Faith (APF)
The APF is the church's official association for raising money to help missions in all countries of the world. In England it works with the Mill Hill Fathers and collects money through its red collection boxes. In St Joseph's parish a team of promoters goes twice a year to the homes of those with boxes to empty them and count the contents, which are then taken to the Parish's APF secretary to bank.
In 2010 over £1,700 was raised in the parish in this way, our contribution to the over two million raised nationally.
If you would like to be involved please contact Janet Lupino via the Parish Office on 01684 574 250 or stjoseph.malvern@rcaob.org.uk.

One World Group (OWG)
The One World Group exists to build our awareness as a parish of the situation of poor and excluded people, and why they are poor and excluded – and to support them with understanding, money and prayer. What we have realised increasingly, but do not live up to, is that it is also about changing us – how we see the world and how we live.
We work closely with the CAFOD parish representative in all we do. CAFOD is a large organisation able to support and supervise large projects. We as the OWG try to support groups or individuals where there is a personal link to the parish – which helps understanding and confidence. The different goals may seem contradictory, but are not – we need the efficiency and expertise of large agencies such as CAFOD but we also find meaning and security in personal links.
