Exploring the Faith
There are several Parish groups which help foster our common faith, as follows.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process through which non-baptised men and women enter the Catholic Church. It includes several stages marked by study, prayer and rites at Mass. Participants in the RCIA are known as catechumens. They undergo a process of conversion as they study the Gospel, profess faith in Jesus and the Catholic Church, and receive the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and Holy Eucharist. The RCIA process follows the ancient practice of the church and was restored by the Second Vatican Council as the normal way adults prepare for baptism.

If you are not a Catholic but are interested in finding out more about the Catholic faith, please contact the Parish Office on 01684 574 250 or stjoseph.malvern@rcaob.org.uk. The new sessions will begin in September 2025, and the application form is below.

Christian Meditation
Our group is part of the World Community for Christian Meditation, which was inspired by John Main OSB. We share the pilgrimage to the heart in silence and friendship, as part of the worldwide community. At each meeting we refresh our understanding of the teachings, often by playing a talk by John Main, then we meditate and sometimes conclude with a short time of reflection together.

We see meditation as a way of social transformation as well as personal growth, and weekly groups have formed around the world to express this, and we have the privilege of hosting the Worcestershire group in our Parish.
We meet every Wednesday 7.45pm in the Aldwin Room, and would be delighted to welcome you.

Newman Association
The Newman Association is a national organization whose members meet regularly in local Circles to develop their understanding of their faith. We are predominately Catholic but members of other denominations are welcome as associates.
The Worcester Circle meets at the Parish Hall, St George's, Worcester at 8.00pm on the third Wednesday of the month.

Malvern Action Group for the Bible Society
The Bible Society began in 1804 because the desire of a poor young Welsh girl, Mary Jones, to possess her own bible, had so impressed a group of dignitaries that they decided to supply free bibles to people too poor to buy them.

Now the scope of the work of the Society extends in many directions and the Malvern Action Group for the Bible Society, through local activities, mainly fund raises for the work of translation for the millions of people around the world who lack a bible in their own language. To date, half of the world's languages have been translated, leaving 3406 still to be done. Malvern Action Group has 17 members from local churches.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter
Worldwide Marriage Encounter and Engaged Encounter exist for the enrichment of marriages and for preparation for marriage. Residential and non-residential Weekends take place throughout the country during the year at various centres.

In our parish a group of married couples, who have experienced a Marriage Encounter Weekend, meet regularly as a way of support and to gain further enrichment for their relationships. For any married or engaged couples who are interested in enriching their marriages or preparing for their forthcoming marriage, there are information leaflets on the notice board in the narthex. Alternatively, more information and contact numbers can be obtained from the Worldwide Marriage Encounter website.
