Pope’s Prayer Intention for November

  • For the prevention of suicide. Let us pray that those who are tempted to commit suicide may find the support, care and love they need in their community, and be open to the beauty of life.

Please Pray

  • For the Sick and Housebound of St Joseph’s Parish: Clare Gray, Anne Wiseman, Anne-Marie Elder and Roslyn La Ferla. We include all those in hospitals, nursing homes & their own homes. Our Lady, health of the sick, pray for them. Amen.

  • For those on the anniversary of their death: John Griffiths and Michael Newman.

ANNUAL COLLECTION FOR JOHNSON ASSOCIATION

is due to take place this weekend of 1 & 2 November. The objective of the association is to provide financial help to priests of the Archdiocese of Birmingham in retirement, old age and sickness. There are approximately 190 Diocesan Priests in the Diocese of Birmingham. Of these 59 priests over the age of 75, 65 priests aged between 65 and 75 AND 24 priests under the age of 50!! As you can see the work of the Johnson Clergy Association is going to be vital in future years. Donations can be made in the collection, online, by standing order or via the QR Code. Those who can Gift Aid their donation. One way to support the Johnson Association if to leave something in your will to the care of the clergy.

ALL SOULS DAY AND BLESSING OF GRAVES

Mass on Monday at 3rd November at 12noon followed by blessing of the graves at the Great Malvern cemetary starting at 1pm in front of the cemetery chapel.

Our PAC will meet on Monday 10th November at 7pm. If you have items for the PAC to review or discuss, please let Nazzarena know in the parish office as soon as possible so that they can be included in the agenda. Thank you.

PARISH MASS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE DIED IN THE PAST YEAR

will be celebrated at 7pm on Thursday, 30th November. If you wish to submit names of your family or friends who have died in the past year, please fill them on the form in the Narthex or submit their names to the parish office. A candle will be prepared for each of the deceased and if you wish you can donate £1 for the candle. These candles will be blessed and lit at the Mass of the day, and you will be asked to carry them to the sanctuary during the Mass. They can be taken home after Mass

REMEMBERING THE DEAD IN NOVEMBER

A time to pray and give thanks for all those who have been such an important part of our life but are sadly no longer with us. Envelopes containing a sheet of paper in them are available in the narthex for anyone wishing to submit names of their loved ones for prayers during the month of November. Please take these envelope home and return them in the November Dead Box. Please deposit the list in the basket in front of the altar. If you wish to enclose a donation, the offering you give will generate Masses for Holy souls which will be spread out through the coming year

PARISH MAGAZINE COPY DAY

for the Advent edition is Sunday 16th November. All contributions very welcome, especially if you haven't written for us before. Please send copy to Margaret Rank merank@btinternet.com or leave in an envelope in the narthex.

DEANERY ALTAR SERVERS DAY

All altar servers from around our Deanery are invited here to St Joseph’s on Saturday 29th November (10.30am-3.30pm) for a day where we will come together to share experiences, listen to one another, learn more about the ministry of serving at the altar, grow in faith and enjoy good company and a meal together. It would be good to have a good turn-out from our own parish! Please let Edd, or Fr Naz know if you can come.

THE THURSDAY GROUP

Will be meeting at 2.00 pm in the McEnnis Room on Thursday November 6th to listen to the Malvern Ukulele Group play. The Malvern Ukulele Group have always been generous with their time & do not charge us but they do pass a bucket round for donations towards their charity. We hope that members will come prepared to contribute, as always, to their good causes.

CAKE SALE - REMINDER

There will be a Cake Sale and Raffle held in the McEnnis room after the 11am Mass on Sunday 16th November in aid of Beverly La Ferla’s daughter Isobel.

CURRY NIGHT – FRIDAY 7TH NOVEMBER AT 7.30 PM IN THE MCENNIS ROOM. Interested in hearing a parishioner talk about his visit to a project in southern India? One of our parishioners recently visited Reaching the Unreached, in Tamil Nadu, southern India, which helps poor children and their families in rural villages. St Joseph’s parish peace and justice group, in cooperation with the youth group, invite you to come and hear Tom talk about his experience and find out more about the work of RTU. Following the presentation we’ll enjoy some tasty home-made Indian food. Limited spaces available! A sign-up sheet will be available in the church entrance from 25th October. Alternatively you can send an email to Helen at louise_helen@hotmail.com There will be a suggested donation of £10 per person to cover costs and to raise money for the work of RTU.

AID TO CHURCH IN NEED

15th Nov: Day of Reflection led by ACN (Aid to the Church in Need) at Harvington Hall. There will be a testimony by Tobias, a catechist who suffered persecution in Nigeria, and a talk by John Pontifex, ACN's Head of Press and Public Affairs on Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Act, the right to religious freedom. The day includes Mass celebrated by Bishop Tim Menezes, talks, tours and workshops. £25 includes refreshments but please bring packed lunch. Email teresa.kehoe@acn.org.uk – Carol Ann Hartnett will be leading some tours.
