PETS BLESSING SERVICE
Last Sunday, in honour of St Francis, whose feast it was, we had a service for pets and their owners. It is the first time St Joseph’s has held such an event, and it was a great success. There were 15 dogs, 2 rabbits, safely in a carrier, and a cat (in abstentia) as she was too shy to attend in person. It took place on church lawn in front of the presbytery, and the weather was very kind to us. We had readings, a psalm, a short gospel and petitions for the care of all God’s creatures with a reminder of our duties towards them. Fr Naz went round and blessed each animal and sprinkled them with holy water. It was a very friendly and joyful event and might become an annual one! Win Crawford
