  • The care of water. Let us pray for a just and sustainable management of water, a vital resource, so that everyone may have equal access to it.

  • For the Sick and Housebound of St Joseph’s Parish: Clare Gray, Anne Wiseman, Anne-Marie Elder, John Eckersley and Irene Davis. We include all those in hospitals, nursing homes & their own homes. Our Lady, health of the sick, pray for them. Amen.

The Big Clean is on Day 4 as I write, and what a week so far in terms of achievements. First, sincere thanks to the very small Maintenance Committee which has spent weeks in prioritising & scheduling work, obtaining quotes, buying equipment & sundries. All of the members have been busy in the church this week doing the high-level cleaning & organising work. Other people have been extremely busy doing work inside and out. Not only the Holy Dusters but many parishioners have turned up for long days or shorter stints to undertake a myriad of jobs. The atmosphere has been one of real cooperation and companionship. New parishioners turned up to polish and it was a delight to meet them and get to know others better. Susan has manned the kitchen all week and provided, coffees, teas, breakfasts and lunches with help from the cleaners. Before we started, I had a list of nearly 150 jobs to be achieved, large and small. Most will have been completed by the end of the week so thank you to everyone who contributed this wonderful, celebratory achievement in many ways. Admire the lack of cobwebs, replaced lightbulbs, sparkling stained glass windows, cleaner carpet, benches, chairs, walls, ceilings, lights, reredos, statues, glass, brasses, silver items & more. The Aldwyn Room has been our place of worship this week & has been packed. We look forward to the return to the gleaming church on Saturday, and you can still come along and help. Working with children and leading them to a deeper understanding of the wonderful sacraments, especially Reconciliation and the Eucharist, is a real joy and a privilege. Carol Ann is looking for more team members. The Children's sessions are on one Tuesday and one Sunday (before Mass) a month starting in October. If you can help with any of these (not necessarily all of them) please let her or Fr Naz know. Many thanks in anticipation.

It's a wonderful delight to bring your child(ren) to receive the Lord in Holy Communion. Registration is now open for children in school year 3 or above. Forms are available in the Narthex or online. Please return completed application forms to Susan Van Ling c/o the parish office as soon as possible and by 20th September at the latest.

We are set to celebrate a major milestone in our parish history as we mark the 150th Anniversary of St Joseph’s Church, Malvern. Our Anniversary Mass will be presided over by His Grace, Archbishop Bernard Longley on Sunday, 25th October at 11:00am. Joining us for this joyous occasion will be priests who have served our parish over the years, alongside local civic representatives and leaders of other faith communities across Malvern. After Mass there will be an bring and share meal in the school Hall for everyone. Details of the shared meal with be communicated shortly.

For those who are considering becoming Catholics but also all parishioners are welcome to this DVD series by Bishop Robert Barron. All sessions are all on Tuesdays from 7.00pm till 8.30. Refreshments (teas a, coffee cake etc. served from 6.45pm.
