SECOND COLLECTION THIS WEEK FOR MISSION MALAWI:
This Mid July Fr Naz and the youth of the Diocese under Kenelm Trust will be joining St Francis Malawi Trust which is a small charity that supports feeding programmes in 3 schools in Malawi and provides medical care to children at the schools. They also provide medical equipment and funds for Kasina Mission Health Clinic. They buy maize and agricultural supplies so the schools can grow food to feed the children- £10 will buy a sack of maize seed. They also take out donations such as baby clothes, bars of soap and medical equipment such as syringes, dressings and blood sugar monitors. A BIG THANK YOU FROM THE ONE WORLD GROUP
Last Sunday we had an incredible Intercultural Day at St Joseph's. The One World Group would like to thank everyone who contributed something from their country, whether participating in the Mass, singing, dancing or bringing food to share. Thanks also to all those who helped organise the event and on the day itself. This was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the diversity in our parish, and we're already looking forward to next year's event! If you're interested in joining the One World Group, you're welcome to sign up in the Narthex after the weekend Masses.
POPE LEO’S FIRST ENCYCLICAL: MAGNIFICA HUMANITAS:
On 15 May Pope Leo presented his first encyclical Magnifica Humanitas. It has been popularly presented as addressing the challenges of AI but is far more significant. It promises to become a central text of Catholic Social Teaching and provide a continuation of Vatican II and the social and environmental writings of Pope Francis. The bishops of England and Wales, together with their Scottish and Irish counterparts, are encouraging us to study and digest this text. To this end, it is suggested that we establish a study group in our Parish to further our faith by studying this encyclical. If you are interested in joining this group, please email m.townson1@icloud.com , call 07483 237650 or leave your details with the Parish Office.
